A Biblical Atlas Press original project
Modern English Geneva Bible
A reader-friendly modernization of the 1560 Geneva Bible, planned as a free digital edition.
The editorial standard
Clearer English without changing the message
The language will be modernized carefully from the public-domain 1560 text. Archaic spelling and grammar will be updated, while meaning, names, verse structure, and the historic character of the Geneva Bible are preserved.
- Faithful to the 1560 source: modernization will follow the original text rather than paraphrase it.
- Modern, reverent language: sentences will be readable today without becoming casual.
- Proofread before release: each completed book will be checked for textual and biblical accuracy.
- Free digital access: the completed reading edition is intended to remain available without charge.
